Random Drug Testing

Drug testing is nothing new and has been around for a very long time but, is it a reasonable search? Well, that depends on who you ask to define reasonable. To some people it is "reasonable" to burn people alive under the suspicion of witchcraft. To me "reasonable" is only when I have other physical confirmation of committing a violent crime that a search of my person or property may be made. For an employer to be "reasonable" in a search they must have physical corroborating evidence of a crime or destruction to property or person(s). However, most politicians are quite statist in their point of view when concerning "reasonable" and enjoys the fact that they can catch every individual that does anything they disagree with. When it comes to drug use a large majority of politicians agree that "Zero Tolerance" is the answer and that it's OK to discriminate for what they believe to be the "Greater Good". While the Constitution protects us a little against such discrimination, it only does so against established governing bodies. Wait a second, isn't it fair to consider employers an established governing body? While that would be fair, many consider the choice of having a job vs not having one based upon how you conduct your private life a fair choice. I do not believe that a choice of two negatives is fair and neither does the ACLU as they have worked to eliminate discretionless drug screening. However, their support from others on this subject is minimal at best.

High Times Magazine did an article in May covering the issue on drug testing for public assistance. A study conducted in 2012 in Florida concluded that only 5.1% of people on public assistance use illicit drugs and only 8% of people screened for employment fail a drug test. So, we spend billions annually to catch less than 10% of the population and to prevent less than 10% of all workplace accidents. If employers actually care about safety and not about a cheap scapegoat then they would test only for inebriation but, such testing is very subjective and expensive. Most of the push for more testing is from people who profit from such tests and the government. The Federal Government is always trying to find ways around the Constitution and the Bill of Rights so, invading the privacy of our bodies via the private sector makes them giddy. I urge everyone to learn both of these documents to the furthest extent as they are meant to protect and preserve our Natural Rights.

Now a lot of people ask what can I do to stop this invasion of the privacy of the inside of my body? Well, there are many options. I'd start with talking to and getting involved with your local ACLU and NORML chapters. Then, contact your State Senators, Representatives, Governor and Legislators via phone, email and writing a letter. If you do all three methods of contact then you will be heard. You can also let your friends and family know how drug testing negatively affects your life and how it is an unconstitutional invasion of your body. Lastly, know the laws of the state you live in. If an employer doesn't follow the state law DO NOT HESITATE to report them to everyone that will listen (the ACLU, NORML, the state labor board, state attorney, and even the Governor of your state) If we make the subject of drug testing as uncomfortable on employers as it is on the employee then they will start to take measures preventing the need for broad based privacy invasions such as drug screening.

High Times Magazine

I used to be a huge fan of High Times through the 90's and most of the 2000's but, they have changed from being an underground marijuana magazine into a talking head for the Democratic Party. They went from hating on "Big Pharma" to fully supporting "Big Marijuana Pharma" and supporting any decision the Democratic Party makes even if it's detrimental to ending the prohibition on marijuana. For a while they have been a huge supporter of the government taxing and controlling marijuana (that's how the prohibition started to begin with)! Now they have removed the ability to comment on their site anonymously! Gotta track your comments and who said them so that they can let Uncle Sam know your every move. I will never require you to show your identity to comment on here, I only ask that you be respectful in your comments. Your privacy is a basic human right and it used to be protected by the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution!

I remember when HT used to be just about getting high and celebrating marijuana. Now, HT is all about the Democratic Party. As you the viewers may know I do not support any political party and focus on individuals instead. Every year I vote for multiple parties as there are better people in each party for various government positions and I rarely ever vote for an incumbent since almost all long seated incumbents are corrupt. If it wasn't for HT's support of Obama we could've gotten more votes for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary and he would've ended up the Republican nominee. If Ron Paul would've gotten elected marijuana would have been rescheduled by now!

It seems that many in the marijuana movement are making marijuana take a back seat to favor party politics! If we are to ever be able to fully free marijuana from the evil grip of the government and Big Pharma then we must not fall into the Two Party trap! It is for that very reason that I will rarely ever link back to a magazine like High Times.

Government isn't your friend

These days it seems that most people don't have a problem with the abuse of power but rather, who is abusing it. I do not support any political party (no matter how big or small) so, to me the abuse is the same no matter who or what party may be in power. I wish the era of big government would be over soon but, until people shed their political alliance and stand up for freedom it will creep along with it's encroachment into our daily lives until we become slaves to the system (we are not far from that). While George W. Bush ramped up the war on drugs and authorized the Patriot Act, Barack Obama has done the same and has added to that list: breaking Constitutional Law with many bureaucratic appointees, singling out political opponents with the force of law, multiple executions on American citizens without due process, promoting voter fraud, giving tax preference to personal friends, promoting political riots that often get violent, and the list can go on and on.

While I hated George W. Bush, I believed there still was a chance at beating the system. With Barack Obama I fear we may all end up being kept in check with egalitarian fascism before he leaves office (if he does). A lot of people that were outraged by George W. Bush's handling of the "War on Terrorism" have absolutely no problem with Barack Obama not only doing the same things but, also adding more to it. I do not approve of either.

Too many people will give up their freedoms just so they can get more "things" or so their man can win. If anyone wants to end the "War on Drugs" then we must acknowledge that there is also a current war against all of our freedoms. I will firstly never back a politician that refers to any part of the Constitution or Bill of Rights as being out of date as the documents are timeless and can be applied to any political situation. I also see most bureaucracies as not only a waste of resources but also, an abuse of power. The Federal Government is supposed to protect our freedoms not erode them away. If we are to win this war then we must do everything that we can to slow government down. No more "big" legislation, no more "crisis" legislation and no more quick decisions.

Now I've upset myself enough! I'm gonna go smoke a bowl. Till next time.

New Study Shows Cannabis Helps Prevent Diabetes

A new study published in the American Journal of Medicine has shown that regular use of cannabis may help reduce your blood sugar levels. From the years 2005-2010 the National Health & Nutrition Survey investigated the effects of cannabis on glucose, insulin & insulin resistance of adults. Of the 4657 people in the survey only 579 regularly used cannabis & 1975 had previously used cannabis. The researchers noted that the regular cannabis users has a lower body mass index & lower blood sugar levels.

Go figure. Fox News reported something positive about marijuana for once.

WTFlorida bong ban!!

The recent wave of marijuana prohibitionists in Florida just makes you wonder WTF is wrong with Florida's politicians! First the Cathy Jordan Medical Cannabis Act was blocked from even being voted on. Then, Rep. Darryl Rouson a Democrat from St. Petersburg, FL Introduced House Bill 49 aka. Florida Bong Ban which has received a 6-0 vote in favor of passing from the Florida Senate Criminal Justice Committee. It's bad enough that Pam Bondy has been crusading against all drugs legal, illegal, medicinal or otherwise but, now we have a ban on all pipes tobacco or otherwise. What The Florida Is Going On!!!!

Political Terminology

It's important that people learn to use correct terminology specifically when used in politics. You hear everyone calling for "Legalization" these days. Legalization means to repeal or replace a prohibition by writing a new law which usually contains a lot of restrictions on the action previously prohibited. Legalized alcohol is just as illegal as alcohol during the prohibition.

Colorful Weed

I've never actually seen wildly colored weed before but, I have seen purplish buds with really orange hairs & massive trichomes (aka crystals). I do know that a few of these pictures have been photoshopped but, a couple of them don't look like they were.
